Don’t you hate?
Heavy lids, dull eyes, jealous heart.
Hateful thoughts, ugly lies escaping.
The stifling cocoon of inadequacy.
Slumping shoulders, curved spine, bent knees.
Longing for the all-consuming comfort of open wounds.
The weight of exhaustion.
Don’t you love?
A bit of release.
A full intake of breath, balanced with a paired exhale.
A bit of gray peeking out, from behind the black.
Illumination, far ahead.
Don’t you hope?
For grace.
For even lighter shades of gray.
A better person is waiting for you, ahead.

The ending of your beautiful piece of prose is so optimistic, I can’t go on thinking the way I was before I read it. Nicely done.
Thanks for pressuring me to submit to Love Links!
Lovely.
This was beautiful. You sure a wonderful poet.
That was beautiful!
Makes me wish I could write poetry.
Thanks! That was my first one. And, I’m pretty sure you can do ANYTHING. You are Super Blogger.
Awww. (Speechless) And, I thought from the title this was going to be about a gray you found on your head. 🙂
That’s really beautiful. It just calmed me down instantly- weird.
Lovely to read before falling off to sleep.
absolutely beautiful. xo
Well said.
Love the prose… 🙂
That was really lovely.
Pretty awesome… and I say this as one who is experiencing the invisibility of aging.
I loved this.
Oh my gosh, awesome! I’ve got a new job for you this spring. Poetry teacher! Stop by anytime. You can bring your kids, too.
sure. the lesson will be like, “ok kids, words words words. as long as you hit enter at lot, you’re good”.
Beautifully written. And it totally ended up in a place I wasn’t expecting given the dismal place it started – the epitome of the morning grouch whose mood lightens as the day goes on?
oh, i like that. I’d like to think I get continually happier/nicer as time goes by….
This ends on such an inspirational note.
I didn’t expect to be gifted with a poem when I clicked on your blog! What a lovely surprise and such a beautiful poem – just – wow.
Beautiful and yes, I so long for lighter shades of grey!
Brilliant and you made this seem so effortless to write, but I could not do this.
More people need lighter shades of grey in their life…or grey period.
I loved this.
Boy, do I love and need this today! Heading into the next stage now with hopes of doing it gracefully! Beautiful!
I feel like you just gave me a present and I don’t even know you! thank you!
Wonderful. The ‘hope’ and ‘love’ parts gave me a Zen kind of feeling.
